Why use Copper Nails?
Using the right nails plays a big factor on insuring the durability and longevity of a roof.
Copper nails are made of solid copper, giving them
durability and holding power. Mind you copper is more expensive
than aluminum or galvanized steel, it's able to withstand many more years
furthermore saving from having to spend more money on repair and
maintenance cost in the long run. Copper nails provide ease
when removing a slate tile that needs to be replaced.
Roofs with copper flashing and copper nails provide roofs a layer
of protection against algae and bacteria.
Slate roof tiles are typically held by only nails, which is why it's important to
use copper nails for both copper sheet metal and natural slate tiles instead of
ordinary galvanized nails. Galvanized nails have limited life span; and start
rusting after the zinc coasting wears off. With this said, your roof is only
as good as the nails used to hold it together, so it's very important to use
the right type. We don't recommend taking the chance by using nails that
are going to corrode, as this could put your roofing structure at risk.
