Are you looking to get more involved in slate roofing? The National Slate Association offers members information and tools to pursue the intricacies of installing or repairing a slate roof. They also have an updated manual with technical drawings explaining slate installation, problems, and calculations.
The National Slate Association has recently released a new version of the "Slate Roof" manual. Copies may be purchased from Virginia Slate Company for $90.00 plus shipping and handling.

The Virginia Slate Company looks for slate that is in good condition and available in larger quantities and sizes. (at least 5 squares- approx. 1400 pieces and 16"x8" min.)
