Unfading Blue / Black

Unfading Blue/ Black is produced from Buckingham County, Virginia.  This slate is without question one of the best slate veins here in the United States.  It is frequently specified for high end residential jobs, commercial and government projects across the United States.  Due to today’s small productions of the slate, most of these specs are changed to our “Classic Blue/ Black” or our “Colonial Blue/ Gray”.

  • description: Buckingham, Virginia slate in it's peak quarried slate from approximately 100 different quarry holes. The material was shipped via the railroad up and down the East Coast extensively. And as one of the only roofing materials available it was also one of the best. Today there is only one quarry still producing roofing slate. The quantity is limited by machinery as well as the difficulty of producing this roofing slate. It is thought that there is enough slate in the Buckingham vein to slate every house on the East Coast.
