Colonial Black

Colonial Black is quarried with a uniform black tone with little variation from piece to piece. Yet due to its higher percentage of Calcium, about 10% to 20% percent of these slate shingles will weather to lighter shades of grays and buffs.  The weathering slate roofing is commonly used as a substitute for “Vermont Black” or Vermont Clear Black”. This weathering slate is commonly used in Historic districts allowing the new roof to have an aged appearance.
